Time for Spring Cleaning

It's that time to make the transition in our closets, people! It's time to let go of some boots and turtle necks because well, it's out of season. Don't get me wrong, there are some transitional pieces, but you know what I mean by out of season. Put the cable knit sweaters and Ugg boots in storage.

Benefits of Spring Cleaning

Your clothes last longer. If you put away your boots, sweaters and long sleeves, the material will last longer over the years. That means you'll save money and get to hold onto your favorites for longer. I have a pair of Uggs that I've owned since 2011. They don't look brand new but they definitely don't look six years old. They're kept in good condition and that goes along with my nice sweaters and other clothes that I wear during the fall and winter.

You can see what you do and don't wear. If there's something you didn't touch once this season, then it's time to donate it or re-sell it. Why let clothes take up space that you don't even wear? Don't be a clothing hoarder! There's someone out there who will appreciate your donation.

Shopping. After you clear your fall and winter clothes out, new space needs to be taken up. That's right, time to shop! Get new spring styles and colors to get you ready for Spring and Summer. Yes, that's right, treat yo self :)

Negatives of Spring Cleaning

It takes time. And if you're a procrastinator like I am, Spring cleaning will never happen. Create a calendar or to-do list to help you take it day-by-day. That way, in under a month you can be done. I'm setting a goal. By April 9, I will be done clearing out old clothes. That's one week before Easter. That's do-able. If you can't do it alone, ask a friend to help. That's what I'll probably end up doing.

Storage space. Where's all my cleared out things that I want to keep going to go? Well, I suggest buying some plastic bins with good closing clasps on the end so that you only need two or so. You can store them in a closet, under your bed, the attic, or in your garage. Make sure to label it.

Figure out what you don't need, shoes you won't be wearing, and shirts that have to go. Donate, save and get rid of all that you can and keep that closet clean. Now excuse me as I start on my closet!

Live life,

Jordan

Ps- My room looks like a tornado hit it right now. Sorry not sorry.
