GRAD SZN 2017

Attention, everyone!
I, Jordan Highsmith, graduated on May 13, 2017, from Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication and minored in film. It feels great to finally be done with school. From starting off my college journey at Oklahoma State University to making the hard decision to leave and transfer to another school to continue my track career, it was rough. But, I'm done and I can proudly say that I have graduated debt free. Not many students who graduate college can say they graduated debt-free, but thanks to my track and field athletic scholarship, it brought me through.
Now let's move on to the more important stuff: What did I wear?
Graduation has become a day of more than just a moment to celebrate your academic accomplishments. It's also a time to put on your very best to complement the celebration. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you want to always remember. Might as well glow while you're at it.
I wore an off the shoulder midi pencil dress from Asos and nude Steve Madden block heels. I'd say price range wise, it was $$-$$$. I spent $90 on the dress and $90 on the shoes, but like I said, I believe you can splurge for a special event. That's not too bad.
I have compiled a list of Dos and Don'ts for your graduation attendance whether you're the graduate or the attendant. Have fun!
Graduation Dos and Don'ts
DO step outside of the box when it comes to what you're wearing under your gown.
DON'T feel like you need to buy a whole new wardrobe for this one event.
DO make sure your heels are comfortable so you can grace the stage. (Falling is not in the plans)
DON'T wear a loose flow dress that is longer than your gown. That's tacky and looks terrible in pictures.
DO wear your hair in a way that looks neat under your cap.
DON'T let your budget hold you back from being anything short of amazing on this special day.
DO get a pedicure if your toes will show in your shoes.
DON'T get so lit the night before that you wake up late the day of graduation and look a hot mess.
DO take lots of pictures to highlight how amazing you are.
DON'T let anyone stop your glow on this day!
Simple enough? College graduation felt way more important and more well-worth it than high school. I encourage all of my followers and readers to finish school, get that degree, and continue to soar because your education and knowledge is something that no one can take away from you!
GRAD SZN 2017.
Live life,
Jordan
